The Umananda Island, perched on the mighty Brahmaputra is also named as The Peacock Island because of its shape. It is the smallest inhabited riverine island in the world. It is closer to Guwahati in the state of Assam in India and can be reached by a ferry from the banks of Brahmaputra.
The island houses a Shiva Temple and also, is home to the endangered golden langurs.
